Offshoots of oblivion

Trees have become one of the most important aspects of our lives. Without them, we wouldn't be able to survive. To commemorate Van Mahotsav; also known as tree week I have written a poem dedicated to trees and flora. Let's all take a little initiative to protect our sanctuary, mother earth. A simple effort by:
  • Close the lights when not being used.
  • Reduce water use by using hand-sanitizers
  • Plant small plants in  pots and water them daily
  • Reduce the use of plastic by switching to clothe products instead
  • Reuse shirts by making them into bags.

The Poem

Branches move gracefully,

As gushing winds blow,

The dangling leaves and orchards show,

Jovial flowers stretch across the land,

Oh, what beautiful gifts you bestowed,

Dear Mother,

But wait, OH NO!

Poison, Toxins, Pollutants,

Bleaching, Killing, Slaughtering, Slaying,

Innocent plants,

Deserted, all gone, a wasteland,

Pandemonium of air,

Our breath,

Husks, Shreds, Hulls,

Famine, Starvation, Hunger

Craze, Rage, Fury

We all thought nothing could go wrong,

T'was just a tree we cut,

They grieved as they crept back into the oblivion that they had made.

  1. What a lovely poem! Captures the sad truth so well...the first few lines give such an instant picture of beautiful tress ...
