COVID-19 Explained

In December of 2019 the Chinese Government notified international authorities that a virus was spreading through their community. Soon Thousands of people started getting infected and new cases doubled by day having an exponential infection rate. This virus was the coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19 or SARS-COV-2. The main way the virus spreads is by droplet infection. This can spread in two ways.

1.The infected person coughs or sneezes and the droplets land on a surface. It is not sure for how long the virus can stay on surfaces but we know it can. Therefore washing and sanitizing surfaces is a necessity at this time. You may contract the virus if you touch said infected object and touch your mouth, nose, eyes.

2.The infected individual coughs on your face or in the open. If you are in the vicinity of 6 feet or1.8288 meters then you will be infected.

The virus stays in your body for almost a week or two before causing havoc. Thus an infected individual does not show symptoms before a week. It also may be that your immune system fights the virus and kills it before showing symptoms. Nevertheless, we should still obey the rules and regulations given to us by the government. Many new symptoms are also being found like:
  • Redish pink eyes.
  • COVID toes which are rashes on the skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes.
  • loss of taste and smell.
  • Headaches.
  • loss of speech or movement ie. unable to talk or move.
  • Pain in chest or chest pressure
  • Difficulty in breathing and loss of breath.
  • Diarrhea
The main symptoms are influenzas (flu) like symptoms which are coughing and fever. The coronavirus if often compared to like influenza (flu) but is much more deadly and is highly more contagious. While the exact death rate is hard to pin down while this ongoing pandemic is going on, but we know for sure that it is more contagious.

But the best thing to do is to stay home and stay safe.
